Bad Ideas for Greeting Cards
02-02-12

There is never a time when some high-end cheap postcards or greeting cards are not being passed from person, even when there is no special occasion or holiday to be celebrated. Postcard printing has always been like this, constantly moving and producing, with the postal and mailing system always busy with delivering all of the different greeting cards and postcards that people send for a variety of different reasons. However, this also means that among all of the beautiful and touching full color postcards, photo postcards, and custom postcards being exchanged, there are also those greeting cards that are nothing but the culmination of a bad idea and the inexplicable urge to implement this idea. If you want to either find out what these bad ideas are in order to avoid during the next time or even to find some inspiration for the next offensive or shocking business card you will send, read on and learn about three things to avoid when it comes to your greeting cards. Bad Jokes. Either the message of your commercial printing product is simply not funny at all or the timing of your joke leaves a lot to be desired, but you really have to put a lot of thought into these kinds of things if you want to avoid offending any of your friends or family members. Most of the time, these bad jokes are generally unintentional and are even meant in the best way possible, but there is really never a good time to make light of someone’s death or make fun of a person’s characteristics, unless of course you are really close. High quality prints are usually amusing and funny, but when you are not aware of the lines not to cross, you may be getting in over your head. Bad Pictures. Embarrassing—yet funny—pictures do not make for quality print designs, and you have seen some of the more hysterically awkward family portraits and candid shots, you would agree. Whoever thought it would be a good idea to include these pictures in a Christmas card or any other generic greeting card most likely had a different sense of humor that involves things that would make any normal person blush. Pictures are a good way to preserve memories of the past, but there are certain photos that should never be kept and should most definitely never be put in any greeting cards. Bad Taste. Taste is a subjective thing, but there are certainly things which would define “bad taste” that people should avoid especially when ordering things from commercial printing companies. Good friends usually share eccentric tastes, but if you are sending out a greeting card to a not-so-close acquaintance or other, you might want to stick with the commonly accepted definitions of a good greeting card. Who would have known that even in a simple trade such as postcard printing there will still be a collection of different standards that would determine whether or not your cheap postcards and greeting cards make the cut? This is a good thing to remember the next time you have an urge to do something thoughtful so that things will not get a chance to blow up in your face.
