Lichborne: Tweaking your frost DPS talent build + wow power leveling
Do not, for one repulse, give up the purpose that you resolved to effect. (William Shakespeare, British dramatist)

Last week, we took a look at frost DPS. At that time, I posted a basic DPS build for beginning frost DPSers to provide a good balance of DPS and utility. As I mentioned back then, though, the basic frost DPS build is pretty nice in that it does allow a bit of flexibility in your build; that is, there are a few places where you can swap around points a bit depending on your gear level and personal needs. We'll also take a quick look at optimizing sigil usage, which should come in handy for blood and unholy DPS as well. But first, let's take a look at those frost talents.

Subversion Subversion is a cornerstone of many a DPS build, thanks to the threat reduction. While threat reduction seems a bit laughable in the era of quick-and-frantic AoE DPS runs where it seems like most tanks can keep aggro by spamming a few buttons, it can come in handy, especially at later gear levels where DPS attack power starts to drastically outpace a tank's ability to keep aggro. wow power leveling That said, Subversion is not great for frost DPS. We generally get enough crit power from Killing Machine and gear. If you don't need the threat reduction, you should take the points out of it.

Blood-Caked Blade While this is the easiest place to remove points if you want to bolster Black Ice or Subversion, it's also the best place to put points back into if you want more DPS. Frost DPS does a whole lot of damage via weapon strikes, and a chance to do more damage on each strike is nothing to sneeze at. If you have no threat issues, just take those points out of Subversion and put them here. It's going to be the best place to spend them if you want more DPS.

Killing Machine Killing Machine itself is awesome. xyjjsofjsfjlsfs A free crit every so often is extra DPS in the bank. That said, there is too much of a good thing. If you don't use the Killing Machine buff, that's wasted talent points. If you have so much critical strike rating that many of your hits are critical strikes anyway, you may be wasting talent points. wow power leveling As a general rule of thumb, it's probably safe to take one point out of Killing Machine some time after you reach 30-40% critical strike chance, but your mileage may vary. When you remove that point, it can easily go into either Black Ice or Subversion.

Chill of the Grave This talent provides extra runic power, which is key for maximizing your DPS. Frost Strike is a very significant part of frost DPS, and you need the runic power to churn out as many of them as possible once your runes are on cooldown and when you have a KM proc to spend. Again, though, you can have too much of a good thing. If your runic power is consistently sitting at high levels instead of being spent on Frost Strikes, you're essentially wasting your Chill of the Grave talent points. This can happen if you're consistently getting healed by a restoration druid or discipline priest, or if you're consistently getting lots of runic power from using Anti-Magic Shell. Keep an eye on your rotation, and if you find you're flush with runic power, you can consider taking a point or two from this talent and apply it to one of the others on this list.

Black Ice Black Ice is a pretty easy skill to leave half-full if you'd rather max Subversion or Blood-Caked Blade, but it's still relatively valuable. You will be doing a pretty decent amount of frost and shadow damage, especially if you're AoEing. If you don't need the extra points from Killing Machine or Chill of the Grave anywhere else, put them in Black Ice. In other words, let's say you're looking at your spec. You do a few dungeon runs. It feels like you have a decent amount of critical strike, so you take that one point out of Killing Machine and stick it into Black Ice. You also notice that you pretty never pull aggro off of just about any tank you run with, so you pull those three points out of Subversion and throw them over to Blood-Caked Blade. wow power leveling That gives you a talent build that looks something like this. You'll have to watch your threat a bit more, but you'll definitely do better DPS.

Sigil choice We didn't go into sigil choice too in depth last time, but there were a few questions people had, so it's probably a good idea to explain it somewhat more in depth. cheap wow gold While in the past Sigil of Awareness and Sigil of the Vengeful Heart provided enough of a base damage boost to certain weapon strikes to make them worthwhile in the past, testing for Patch 3.3.3 thus far has indicated you're best off now sticking with the straight strength boosts, that is, either Sigil of the Hanged Man or Sigil of Virulence. wow power leveling xyj.Tanking is not all about GearScore or defense rating it's about being a leader. Tanks need not only to be ready to step up and take charge of the group by assigning duties and keeping everyone working together as a team, but also be willing to listen to the suggestions of those who might know a different strategy. Sometimes, people are not as kind or cooperative as I would like.

TheoryCraft 101: Melee haste + wow gold

Another week, another article dealing with the math behind the scenes of World of Warcraft. wow power leveling Last week, the discussion focused around caster haste; this week will be a continuation of that as we delve into the world of melee haste. Haste follows a pretty different system between spells and melee attacks. When it comes to casters, haste influences how fast a spell is cast as well as the GCD for all abilities, allowing for the standard 1.5-second GCD to be reduced to 1 second. Haste for melee attacks, however, only increases the swing timer of auto-attacks and does not reduce the GCD on physical abilities.

This has created a pretty big disparity between how melee value haste over casters, with casters generally favoring haste far more than melee classes. Blizzard has attempted to equalize this in some ways throughout Wrath of the Lich King by increasing the amount of haste that melee get per point of rating, yet that really hasn't made much of a difference. Cataclysm will attempt to address this disparity once again by increasing the resource gain of melee classes through haste. Obviously the finer points of this mechanic are not known to the community at large yet, and it is unlikely that Blizzard has the system fine tuned at this point anyway, so this article will not address that fact. It is something to remember for the future, though.

Haste does have some perks of a sort for several melee classes that are generally not applicable to many casters. xyjjsofjsfjlsfs wow power leveling More melee classes have proc effects that are based around landing attacks on opponents than casters do. Proc effects are a strange animal and will be discussed in detail later within the article. First, let's look into the basic mechanics of haste for melee in how it affects attack speed.
rs gold
Attack speed The basic premise of haste for melee is to increase the attack speed of all weapons. Just as with caster haste, when dealing with melee haste functions, you will predominately need to use the percentage of haste rather than flat values. Remember that some melee classes have a higher rate of conversion for haste than other classes. Normally, 32.79 haste rating is required in order to gain 1% haste; however, paladins, shaman, druids and death knights all have a melee haste conversion rate of 25.22 haste rating per 1%. Using the character sheet in game or the armory page for any given character is the easiest method for quickly determining a player's haste percentage over their current rating. Simply scroll over the haste rating line and a tooltip will pop out giving you an accurate conversion. Once you have that percentage, the formula for calculating attack speed is rather simple. To determine your current attack speed, use the following formula:
aion gold
Attack Speed = Current Attack Speed / ((Haste Percentage / 100) + 1) Also, as with caster haste effects, all melee haste effects are multiplicative instead of being additive. wow power leveling There are two possible ways that you can represent this when using the previous formula. One way is to merely reapply it for each individual haste effect, where your current attack speed is merely the result of the previous formula; if you have a large number of haste effects, this can become quite tedious. Another way is to simply add each new effect to the end of the formula to create a string of effects. Using this method, each effect would look like this:
aion gold
Attack Speed = Current Attack Speed / ((Haste Percentage / 100) +1) / ((Haste Effect 1 / 100) +1) / ((Haste Effect 2 /100) +1) Anything that does not specifically state that it increases haste rating (essentially anything that isn't gear) will be considered a separate haste effect that needs to be calculated in this way. Such effects include, aion gold but are not limited to, Slice and Dice, Windfury Totem, and Swift Retribution. If you are a hunter, remember that any buff which specifically denotes melee haste will not effect the attack speed of your bow; ranged attacks are only effected by ranged attack speed buffs. wow gold xyj. This Breakfast Topic has been brought to you by Seed, the Aol guest writer program that brings your words to WoW.com.I leveled my main as a retribution paladin until about level 65, when I picked up two new toys running randoms a shield with high defense and block stats, and a onehanded sword with good stats that glowed purple and matched the shield.
